Trust, markets and lemmings for the slaughter

Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich wrote that Wall Street’s biggest problem right now is the collapse of trust:

The problem is, government bailouts, subsidies, and insurance aren’t really helping Wall Street. The Street’s fundamental problem
isn’t lack of capital. It’s lack of trust. And without trust, Wall Street might as well fold up its fancy tents.”

The ones in control of wall street, the ones making most of the money, need trust of the population so they can manipulate the masses to create them wealth. Trust is the vehicle that makes the lemmings follow a path laid out by those who directly benefit from their slaughter.
Trust should not be given, because people on the whole do not make money in the market.
